Angela Kim is a dynamic and versatile pianist recognized internationally for her vivid imagination, expressive depth, and technical brilliance. Praised by the press as “a pianist of the highest technical standard,” she brings passion and innovation to both performance and education. In recognition of her outstanding contributions as a pedagogue, she was inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame in 2023.

Deeply committed to expanding the classical repertoire, Ms. Kim actively commissions new works by living composers and explores boundary-pushing collaborations with electronic music, dance, and video art. Her recent and upcoming premieres include works by Christopher Stark, Leilehua Lanzilotti, Dan VanHassel, Juantio Becenti, Darian Donovan Thomas, and inti figgis-vizueta.

Ms. Kim has premiered compositions by renowned composers such as Steve Reich, Gunther Schuller, Frederic Rzewski, Richard Carrick, and Yoon-Ji Lee. In 2022, she was awarded the Classical Commissioning Grant from Chamber Music America, funded by the Mellon Foundation—one of the most significant national grants for chamber music. Her additional accolades include the Henry Cobos Endowed Piano Prize from the Eastman School of Music and an Emerging Artist Award from Boston’s historic St. Botolph Club.

She has performed across the United States, South America, Europe, and Korea, captivating audiences with her thoughtful artistry and adventurous programming. A committed educator, Kim has taught at the New England Conservatory of Music and served as Visiting Professor of Piano at the Eastman School of Music during the 2022–2023 academic year. She earned her Bachelor's, Master's, and Graduate Diploma with academic honors in all degrees from the New England Conservatory, and her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music.

Currently, she is Associate Professor of Piano and Director of the Keyboard Area at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Beginning in summer 2025, Ms. Kim will also serve as Chairman of the Puddingstone Music Festival in Newport, Rhode Island.
